Google Web Fonts (v2) →
9-bits: Google has launched a new web fonts directory, with a way better font browser and (finally) search functionality. Though they still need a wider selection, I’m a big fan of Google Web Fonts because they’re free, easy to embed on a page, and offer downloadable versions of each font (to design with). http://www.google.com/webfonts/v2

Nice try, Google Voice, nice try...
If you use Google voice, one of the features you’re probably familiar with is the voice mail transcription service. When someone leaves you a voice mail, Google Voice tries it’s best to transcribe it with it’s speech-to-text engine, then sends you a SMS text summary. Pretty cool idea on paper, right? When I first started using Google Voice about a year ago, the transcriptions...

Clients From Hell: A client wanted an e-commerce... →
clientsfromhell: A client wanted an e-commerce store designed. We asked if she had a budget, and she said, “No; it costs what it costs.” My partner and I proposed a very reasonable price and in the proposal, we stated that additional hours would be billed at $60 per hour. She refused to even look at the proposal,… And that is why you don’t start working until you have the client...

Facebook Accounts for 25% of All U.S. Pageviews →
Facebook’s putting up some big numbers in terms of U.S. web traffic. Right now, the site accounts for one out of every four pageviews in the United States — that’s 10% of all Internet visits. Or do Tumblr’s image servers seem to die… constantly? Actually, I guess they host all of their static content on those servers, CSS and Javascript included. Regardless, Tumblr seems to load properly for me 3 out of 5 times anymore.

The Willpower Paradox →
alexislloyd: Compelling article from Scientific American arguing that willpower doesn’t work as well as we collectively seem to think it does.  [One group] was basically putting their minds into wondering mode, while the [second group] was asserting themselves and their will. It is the difference between “Will I do this?” and “I will do this.” The results were provocative. People with...
